Obama Wins!

As an official Democratic caucus member, I am pleased to inform you that Barack Obama has just won the Democratic primary! Huzzah! The last time I wrote about the primaries, I was saddened by the whole Reverend Wright affair, announcing that I was pro-Hillary. In my madness, I forgot the one critical thing that I kept harping on in previous months -- he didn't authorize the Iraq war. Hillary did. As did Kerry and Edwards and a bunch of other frightened politicians.

Here's what Obama said in 2002, before the war:

But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.

I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.

I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars.

For that reason alone, I should have been for Obama all along. I'm sorry for ever wavering. Forgive me, reader. And forgive me, Mr. Obama.

Yeah, everything’s going to be alright now.

Things are going to change; I can feel it.

Virtually everything in life has uncertain duration, cost, and consequence....Just saying.

Hillary as VP? Only appointing Rev. Wright as VP would be more stupid for Obama.

For the first time in my life, I'm alarmed just because of the fact that a candidate is a candidate. I'm not saying he shouldn't be a candidate, I'm just saying that if some fuckwad assassinates Obama, we're going to have the worst civil disturbances since the Civil War, which would be ironic.

I hope the secret service doesn't come arrest me because I put those two words adjacent each other.

If McCain wants ANY chance of winning, he should refuse to appear together with Obama. When they're standing next to each other, McCain looks 156 years old:
    Short, bent, and slightly decrepit.

Obama's wife is going to be one of the focal points of the election. Note the fact that I know her name, where she's from, where she went to school, and several statements she’s made ‘about the united states. I have no idea if John McCain is even married.

Young people don't vote. They'll show up to protests; they'll go to conventions; they'll hold rallies; they'll write thousands of letters to the editor of their college news papers; but they won't vote. It'll be interesting to see if that changes this time.

John McCain does have a wife and she is *pretty* damned scary. Glassy eyed. Stepford-ish. *shiver*

I'm also against dumb wars, which are usually started by dumb presidents. Do you think we can avoid dumb presidents in the future?
